Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that choosing the right support for your health and wellbeing is an important decision. These frequently asked questions are here to help you better understand the services, programmes, and approach offered at The Herdman Healing Sanctuary. If you have any additional questions,
we'd be happy to hear from you.
Is this safe alongside medication? Yes. All recommendations are personalised and take your medications, health history, and current symptoms into account. As a Registered Nurse (NMC), Libby takes a professional, safety-focused approach and may recommend consulting your GP or healthcare provider where appropriate.
Will I need to stop my medication? No. This approach is designed to work alongside appropriate medical care, not replace it. Any decisions about medication should always be made with your prescribing healthcare professional.
How quickly might I notice changes? Everyone responds differently. Some people notice improvements in mood, sleep, energy, focus, or cravings within a short period, while others may require more time. The focus is on gentle, sustainable progress rather than quick fixes.
Is this suitable for burnout and anxiety? Yes. Many clients seek support for burnout, chronic stress, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, poor sleep, and nervous system dysregulation. This holistic approach aims to support wellbeing alongside appropriate medical or mental health care.
What if I feel nervous about starting? That's completely normal. This is a supportive, judgement-free space where the process is tailored to your individual needs and paced in a way that feels manageable and comfortable.
Do I need to know anything about supplements? Not at all. Everything is explained clearly and recommendations are personalised to your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. The aim is to keep things simple, practical, and supportive.
Do I need to have a diagnosed condition to work with you? No. Many clients seek support for symptoms such as stress, fatigue, poor sleep, low mood, burnout, cravings, or feeling overwhelmed. You do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from a personalised assessment and support plan.
Could amino acid deficiencies be making me feel exhausted? It's certainly possible—but it's important to remember that fatigue has many potential causes, which is why persistent or unexplained exhaustion should always be discussed with your GP to rule out underlying medical conditions. If medical causes have been excluded, it's worth considering whether your body has the nutritional building blocks it needs to produce energy and support a healthy nervous system. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and are essential for countless processes throughout the body. They help repair tissues, support immune function and are used to produce neurotransmitters such as serotonin, dopamine, GABA and noradrenaline—brain chemicals that influence your mood, motivation, focus, resilience and sleep. Periods of prolonged stress can increase your body's nutritional demands. At the same time, many people eat less protein when they're busy, skip meals, rely on convenience foods or experience digestive problems that affect nutrient absorption. Over time, this combination may leave the body with fewer of the raw materials it needs to function at its best. That doesn't mean everyone who feels exhausted has an amino acid deficiency, or that supplements are the right answer for everyone. Fatigue is often influenced by several factors, including sleep, stress, nutrition, hormone balance, gut health, lifestyle and underlying medical conditions. This is why I take an individual approach. During your consultation, we'll explore your health history, symptoms, diet, lifestyle and current medications to build a picture of your overall wellbeing. If appropriate, we may discuss whether increasing dietary protein, improving nutrition or using carefully selected amino acid supplements could form part of your personalised wellbeing plan. My aim isn't simply to recommend supplements—it's to understand why you're feeling exhausted and help you address the possible root causes in a safe, evidence-informed and compassionate way.
